Punjab’s Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has launched the “Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Program” to provide free, high-quality treatment to heart patients across the province.
The initiative was approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and will cover a wide range of cardiac procedures, including open-heart surgeries. Treatment will be offered at nine public and fifteen private cardiac hospitals throughout Punjab.
All permanent residents of the province are eligible to benefit from the program.
The first successful open-heart surgery under this initiative has already been carried out at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), marking an important achievement.
The provincial government has allocated more than Rs3 billion annually for the program. Authorities have also been directed to eliminate long surgical waiting lists within six months.
For public assistance, a helpline (0800-09009) has been set up, while patients can also call 99066000 between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm, Monday to Saturday.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring advanced healthcare facilities for thousands of heart patients across Punjab.
