Assistant Commissioner Bilal Zubair visited various sites in Gujrat to assess the proposed routes and bus stop locations for the upcoming electric bus service in the district. He was joined by Regional Transport Authority Secretary Saddam Hussain, Municipal Committee Jalalpur Jattan Chief Officer Musharraf Baig, and other officials.
The project, scheduled to commence in December 2025, is being developed under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. During the visit, the team reviewed key areas identified for infrastructure development necessary to support the new transport system.
A fleet of 28 electric buses will operate in the first phase of the project. The assistant commissioner instructed relevant departments to speed up the construction of bus stops and ensure the provision of modern passenger facilities.
Zubair highlighted that the initiative aims to introduce a modern, clean, and eco-friendly transport system, improving daily travel convenience for residents while contributing to environmental sustainability.
