Will Punjab Schools Stay Open Minister Clears the Confusion

The government of Punjab has confirmed that all schools will remain open according to the current academic schedule. Authorities dismissed rumors about possible closures or a shift to online classes.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that both public and private schools across Punjab will continue normal operations. He clarified that the government has no plan to suspend physical classes this year.

According to the minister, the academic calendar in Punjab will be completed without disruption. He stressed that students should continue attending classes as usual. Teachers and school administrations have also been instructed to follow the existing schedule.

“Schools are open as per schedule. No closure and no online classes,” the minister said in his statement. He added that all educational institutions in Punjab should continue their activities normally.

The clarification was issued after reports suggested that the federal government might introduce fuel-saving measures. These discussions emerged due to concerns about oil supply disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East.

Officials have been reviewing different options to reduce fuel consumption across the country. Some reports suggested that educational institutions could face temporary closures. However, the Punjab government has rejected such claims.

A cabinet committee has recently reviewed petroleum prices and discussed a national action plan. The plan aims to manage possible fuel shortages and maintain supply stability.

According to officials, the committee prepared the proposal after consulting provincial authorities. The goal is to ensure that essential sectors continue operating smoothly.

The action plan will soon be presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. After that, it will be submitted to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for final approval.

Despite these discussions, the Punjab government has assured parents and students that schools will remain open. Authorities say there is currently no need to interrupt educational activities in Punjab.

Education officials also encouraged parents not to believe unverified reports circulating online. They said official announcements will be shared if any policy changes occur in the future.
