Punjab Schools to Install “Pink Button” Alert System for Security

The Punjab School Education Department has directed all public and private schools in Punjab to install a “Pink Button” emergency alert system, citing the current security situation in the province.

Guidelines issued on Thursday state that the system will serve as a rapid emergency alert mechanism, helping schools respond quickly to potential threats and ensuring the safety of students and staff.

Under the directive, installation of the Pink Button system is mandatory for all schools. Teachers and students are also required to register on the system to guarantee its effective operation during emergencies.

The department has instructed Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of district education authorities to oversee the activation of the system promptly and ensure compliance across all schools. Strengthened security measures at educational institutions accompany the rollout of this alert system.

Officials emphasized that the initiative is aimed at improving overall safety and providing a swift response in case of any emergency situation at schools.

The Punjab School Education Department warned that strict action will be taken against institutions that fail to implement the Pink Button system in accordance with government instructions, underlining the seriousness of the security mandate.
