All Schools across Punjab will reopen from April 1, 2026, as confirmed by Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan. The decision marks the end of the recent closure period and signals the return of regular academic activities.
According to officials, all Schools and educational institutions will resume operations on a five-day schedule. Authorities have clarified that there will be no hybrid or online learning system. Classes will be conducted fully on campus to ensure better learning outcomes.
The minister stated that monitoring systems have been strengthened across the province. CCTV cameras are now installed at 246 examination centres. These measures aim to improve transparency and maintain discipline during exams.
Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan also shared plans for future improvements in the education system. He said that from next year, students will be given more time to prepare before exams. This change is expected to reduce pressure on candidates and improve performance.
He also acknowledged that online learning has been challenging for many students. Limited access to resources and technical issues made it difficult for students to attend lectures. This is one of the reasons why Schools will continue with physical classes only.
In addition, the government has made progress in providing free learning materials. Around 70 percent of free textbooks have already been distributed in different districts. Officials say the remaining books will be delivered soon to ensure students are fully prepared.
Earlier, the Punjab government had closed all Schools from March 10 to March 31. The decision was taken as part of measures to reduce fuel consumption. Rising petroleum prices and regional tensions had increased economic pressure on the country.
Authorities had considered several options during this period. These included extending holidays and limiting market hours. The goal was to manage the ongoing energy crisis and reduce overall demand.
