Punjab Education Secretary Khalid Nazir Watoo on Wednesday rejected social media rumors suggesting an extension of school holidays until September 5.
In an official statement, he confirmed that the circulating notification is fake and unrelated to the department. “No such notification has been issued,” he clarified, urging citizens to rely only on official sources for accurate updates.
He also advised parents, teachers, and students to follow the verified Facebook page of the School Education Department for authentic announcements.
The clarification comes amid Punjab’s ongoing flood crisis caused by heavy water inflows from India. Rising levels in the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers have forced the evacuation of over 210,000 people, with the Pakistan Army assisting in rescue and relief efforts. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
