The Chief Minister’s Free Wi-Fi service in Punjab has expanded to more areas, including an increase in Wi-Fi hotspots in Lahore from 200 to 230. The service has also been upgraded to Wi-Fi 6 technology, providing users with faster and more reliable internet access. Currently, free Wi-Fi is available at 300 locations across 11 districts in Punjab, including Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, and Murree, with plans to extend it province-wide.
The Safe Cities Authority, which manages the service, reported that over 17.7 million users have accessed the network, utilizing 438 terabytes of data to date. However, the free Wi-Fi service is primarily for emergency use and will not support video streaming or entertainment.
