Punjab’s Higher Education Department has imposed a ban on mobile phone use during classes for both teachers and students in colleges across the province. A circular has been issued to college directors and principals, instructing them to enforce the new regulation.
According to the circular, the use of mobile phones disrupts the teaching process and affects students’ concentration. Therefore, both faculty and students will not be allowed to use their devices during class hours to maintain a focused learning environment.
This move aligns with previous measures taken to enforce discipline in educational institutions. Last year, Government College University (GCU) Lahore introduced a strict dress code, banning jeans, T-shirts, and jackets on campus. The policy was implemented to uphold institutional decorum.
Under the GCU dress code, male students must wear dress shirts and pants, while female students are required to wear modest attire, including a dupatta. The university emphasized that such regulations aim to foster discipline and a professional academic atmosphere.
