The Punjab Police has claimed a remarkable 70% reduction in major crimes across the province following the establishment of the Crime Control Department (CCD), a unit designed to implement a strict zero-tolerance policy on criminal activities.
According to official data, crimes such as robbery, kidnapping, and murder have seen a sharp decline in recent months. The department attributes this improvement to enhanced surveillance, technology-driven policing, and improved coordination between law enforcement agencies.
The CCD’s zero-tolerance approach has been central to this achievement. Under this strategy, law enforcement officers have been instructed to take swift and decisive action against offenders, regardless of social or political influence.
Officials said that the department’s focus on intelligence-led operations and the integration of digital tracking systems has strengthened their ability to respond quickly to criminal incidents. Moreover, the use of data analytics has helped in identifying crime-prone areas and deploying resources more efficiently.
The Punjab government has expressed satisfaction with the results, stating that the initiative reflects its broader commitment to public safety and justice reform.
The CCD’s leadership emphasized that this is just the beginning of a long-term plan to establish lasting peace in the province. “Our goal is not just to reduce crime but to eliminate the culture that allows it to persist,” a senior police official said.
Meanwhile, citizens have expressed cautious optimism, acknowledging visible improvements in law and order while urging authorities to ensure accountability and sustain these reforms over time.
The provincial administration’s continued efforts toward modernization echo similar developmental ambitions voiced in Punjab’s broader growth agenda, where Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently announced a new era of modernization and public-driven progress
With the CCD leading this new phase of policing, the Punjab Police aims to set an example for effective governance, combining discipline, data, and decisive leadership to deliver long-term safety for citizens.
