Punjab Police has proposed the purchase of new bulletproof vehicles to enhance security for ATC Judges. The proposal has been forwarded to the chief minister for final approval.
According to officials, the move comes amid growing security concerns for judges handling sensitive terrorism-related cases. Authorities say upgraded transport is essential to ensure their safe mobility.
The Security Division Lahore has requested 11 new vehicles dedicated exclusively to the protection of ATC Judges. These vehicles will be equipped with high-grade bulletproofing and other safety measures.
The total cost of the initiative is estimated to exceed Rs230 million. This includes the purchase of new vehicles as well as the installation of advanced bulletproof technology. Officials emphasized that the investment is necessary to guarantee the safety of judges in high-risk environments.
The proposal is currently under review, and a final decision will be made by the chief minister along with relevant government departments. If approved, it will significantly strengthen the security infrastructure for ATC Judges in Lahore.
Authorities highlighted that providing secure transport is part of broader measures to protect judicial officials from potential threats. Safe mobility for ATC Judges is considered a priority, especially for those presiding over terrorism-related trials.
The Punjab Police stated that the move reflects the government’s commitment to safeguard the judiciary and maintain public confidence in the legal system. Officials added that secure vehicles will allow judges to perform their duties without fear or disruption.
