Punjab Police Prevent 31 TTP Attacks, Neutralize 43 Terrorists in 18 Months

Punjab Police have successfully thwarted 31 planned attacks by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Khawarij, across the province over the past one and a half years, officials confirmed on Saturday.

Police sources revealed that 22 of these attempts were stopped in the Dera Ghazi Khan district, while nine others were foiled in Mianwali. These operations led to the deaths of 43 foreign militants during retaliatory actions, according to officials.

The crackdown, however, came with sacrifices, as 15 police personnel suffered serious injuries during confrontations with Khawarij elements.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar praised the efforts as “impressive” and emphasized the force’s continued vigilance against ongoing threats.

He noted that check posts in border areas have been reinforced to prevent militant infiltration. The IGP also highlighted the modernization of border police posts, which now feature advanced thermal imaging cameras, upgraded weaponry, and enhanced technology to provide round-the-clock surveillance.

“Personnel stationed at tri-border points and other posts remain highly alert to counter any security threats,” Usman Anwar added.
