Punjab Motorways Closed due to Dense Fog

Dense fog forced the closure of several key motorway sections across Punjab on Sunday, severely disrupting traffic flow and raising safety concerns, officials from the Motorway Police confirmed.

According to authorities, Motorway M-5, connecting Multan with Zahir Pir, was completely closed for all types of vehicles after visibility levels dropped to dangerous limits. The thick fog significantly reduced sight distance, making travel extremely risky for motorists.

In addition, Motorway M-3, stretching from Faizpur to Darkhana, was also shut down as foggy conditions created hazardous driving environments. Officials said the reduced visibility increased the chances of accidents, prompting immediate preventive action.

Motorway M-4 was among the worst affected routes. Traffic was suspended on the section between Gojra and Abdul Hakeem, while another stretch from Faisalabad to Multan was also closed. Authorities cited persistently poor visibility and growing safety risks as the primary reasons behind these closures.

The Motorway Police emphasized that the decision was taken to protect commuters from potential accidents caused by fog-related hazards. Drivers were strongly advised to postpone non-essential travel until weather conditions improve and motorways are deemed safe for reopening.

For those who must travel, officials urged motorists to take precautionary measures, including the use of fog lights, reducing speed, and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles. Drivers were also reminded to avoid sudden braking and remain alert at all times.

Travelers have been encouraged to stay informed through official Motorway Police updates and advisories before planning their journeys. Authorities assured that road conditions are being continuously monitored, and traffic will be restored gradually once visibility improves.

Further announcements will be issued as weather conditions evolve, and motorists are advised to cooperate with law enforcement agencies for their own safety
