Teachers Of Schools With Poor Class 9 Results May Face Dismissal

The Punjab government is considering strict action against schools and teachers after disappointing Class 9 results.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat said schools with low pass rates will be reviewed. Teachers working in these schools may face dismissal.

The move comes after the Lahore Board announced a 55% failure rate in the Class 9 exams. Out of 308,000 students, only 45% passed.

The education minister confirmed that the crackdown will start in Patoki, his home tehsil. Authorities have been asked to prepare a list of schools with poor results in both Class 9 and 10.

According to the minister, teachers in these schools may lose their jobs if poor results continue. He said the government spends billions on education and cannot tolerate weak performance.

The Education Department has also been told to gather data from schools across Lahore and other districts. Action will be taken once the lists are ready.

In a social media post, the minister wrote that schools showing poor results year after year will face strict punishment. Dismissal of teachers is one of the measures being considered.

The minister added that this is the first time such a deep analysis of board exam results is being done.

The Class 9 results showed clear gaps in performance. Boys had a failure rate of 65%, while 47% of girls failed. In arts, 79% of boys failed compared to 53% of girls.

In science, 62% of boys failed, while 44% of girls did not pass.

Private schools performed better, with 67% passing. In government schools, 60% of students failed.

Teachers in government schools may soon be held accountable. The aim is to improve education standards and restore public trust.
