Punjab Orders All Guesthouses to Register with ‘Hotel Eye’ System by June 15
Lahore – The Punjab Home Department has mandated all private guesthouses in the province to register with the government’s “Hotel Eye” software by June 15, 2025, as part of enhanced security and surveillance measures for temporary residences.
Expanded Monitoring Requirements
Previously applicable only to hotels, the Hotel Eye system will now cover guesthouses and residential service providers, including properties listed on Airbnb, Booking.com, and Hotels.com. A dedicated portal has been launched to streamline registration and ensure compliance.
Purpose and Public Safety
A spokesperson for the department said the initiative supports crime and terrorism prevention by enhancing the digital verification of both local and foreign guests. The effort falls under the broader framework of improving public safety and law enforcement coordination.
Guest Data Recording Requirement
All registered facilities must upload digital guest records upon arrival using the Hotel Eye platform. Failure to do so will result in legal action under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Act, 2015.
Legal Enforcement
Non-compliant facilities will face penalties and potential shutdown. The law empowers authorities to monitor short-term lodging arrangements for security and anti-terrorism operations.
Deadline and Implementation
The order is effective immediately, with a strict deadline of June 15, 2025, for full registration and compliance.
