Ramadan 2026 Punjab Sets Up 74 Sahulat Bazaars for Essentials

The Punjab Government has converted 74 Sahulat Bazaars into fully functional Ramazan Bazaars across the province. The initiative, which started on February 14, aims to provide essential items at subsidized rates during the holy month.

The move comes under the directives of the Chief Minister, with the Punjab Sahulat Bazaars Authority overseeing all preparations to ensure smooth operations. Authority Chairman Afzal Khokhar supervised arrangements to make sure the bazaars are ready to serve the public efficiently.

Inspections Ensure Smooth Operations

On Sunday, Director General Naveed Rafaqat conducted surprise inspections of several Ramazan Bazaars in Lahore and Ferozewala. Locations visited included Township, Madina Market, Madar-i-Millat, Nishtar Colony, Barki, Shahdara, and Ferozewala. Officials reviewed cleanliness, security measures, quality control, and the functionality of CCTV surveillance systems.

A provincial control room has been set up to monitor all bazaars 24/7 and promptly address public complaints. Staff leaves across Punjab have been suspended for the duration of the initiative, while senior officers perform frequent field visits to ensure compliance.

Subsidized Goods and Services

The Ramazan Bazaars offer 16 essential food items at prices up to 10% below district administration rates. For instance, a 10-kilogram bag of flour is priced at Rs. 850, while sugar is available at Rs. 140 per kilogram.

Consumers can purchase goods using ration cards or Ramazan Nigehban cards. A free home delivery service within a five-kilometre radius has also been introduced to help vulnerable groups. Authorities are exploring the setup of Senior Citizen Camps to provide special facilities for elderly shoppers.

DG Naveed Rafaqat emphasized, “This initiative highlights the provincial government’s commitment to affordability, transparency, and efficient service delivery during Ramadan.”
