Punjab Launches New Service for Driving Licence Holders

Punjab Traffic Police has released a formal public notice clarifying that electronic driving licenses, commonly known as e-licenses, are fully valid and must be accepted by traffic police officials across the province. The department emphasized that an e-license carries the same legal status as a physical driving license and is recognized under existing traffic laws.

In its advisory, the Punjab Traffic Police urged citizens not to face unnecessary inconvenience due to misinformation or non-compliance by officials. It stated that any traffic officer who refuses to accept a valid e-license would be acting against departmental instructions. Citizens encountering such situations have been advised to immediately report the matter so that prompt disciplinary action can be taken.

To ensure accountability and swift response, the department has shared official complaint channels with the public. Individuals can lodge complaints by calling the Traffic Police helpline at 1787. Additionally, complaints can be submitted through WhatsApp by contacting 0318-4642936. The advisory stresses that timely reporting will help authorities investigate incidents and take action against the concerned personnel without delay.

Punjab Traffic Police highlighted that the e-license initiative is part of its broader digital transformation strategy aimed at improving public service delivery. The move is designed to make traffic-related documentation more accessible, reduce the need to carry physical documents, and support modern, paperless governance.

Officials further encouraged citizens to make use of digital services offered by the department and to remain aware of their legal rights. They reiterated that traffic police personnel have been clearly instructed to recognize and accept e-licenses during routine checks and enforcement activities.
