The Punjab government has launched the “CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme” to provide 100,000 solar systems to eligible households across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the initiative, allowing residents to apply via SMS or an online portal starting today for easy access.
The scheme offers a 1,100-watt solar system to households consuming up to 200 electricity units per month, while those using up to 100 units will receive a 550-watt system. An estimated 52,019 consumers will benefit, with distribution expected to complete within a year through a transparent computerized balloting process.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden of high electricity bills, highlighting the government’s focus on public welfare. She also pointed out that a PKR 14 per unit subsidy has already benefited 7.3 million consumers in Punjab.
