Punjab has seen a rise in pink eye (conjunctivitis) cases following recent monsoon rains, as reported on Tuesday.
In the last 24 hours, public hospitals across the province recorded 907 new cases of pink eye. Jhang reported 106 cases, Multan had 93 cases, Bhakkar saw 83 cases, and DG Khan registered 41 cases. Lahore reported 11 cases during this period. Over the past 30 days, a total of 13,473 cases have been recorded in public hospitals.

The Punjab Health Department noted a 5% decrease in pink eye cases this year compared to the same period last year. From January to September 2023, over 288,000 cases were reported. Health experts are advising those infected to isolate themselves to prevent further spread. Additionally, frequent handwashing is recommended as a preventive measure against pink eye.
