Punjab Grade 8 Assessment Results 88% Students Pass, Girls Top

Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) has announced the results of the Grade 8 Assessment 2026. Officials reported improved participation and better student performance across the province.

According to official data, around 994,000 students were registered for the Grade 8 assessment. Out of these, nearly 894,000 students appeared in the exams. This shows a participation rate of about 90 percent, which authorities described as encouraging.

The results indicate strong academic outcomes. About 88 percent of students scored above the passing mark of 33 percent. Officials said this reflects steady progress in the learning standards of students taking the Grade 8 assessment.

Female students performed better than male students in this year’s results. Around 92 percent of girls passed the assessment, compared to 83 percent of boys. This trend highlights continued improvement in girls’ education across Punjab.

The top positions were also secured by female candidates. Iqra Khan from Mianwali achieved first position. Romaisa Iman from Attock secured second place with 358.5 marks out of 400. Fatima Bibi from Bahawalpur stood third with 353.5 marks. Their performance has been widely appreciated by education officials.

PECTAA officials stated that the Grade 8 assessment was conducted using modern technology. Several new measures were introduced to improve transparency and fairness in the examination process.

These measures included QR-coded answer sheets to maintain student anonymity during marking. Digital attendance systems were also used to track participation. In addition, AI-based e-marking was applied for both objective and subjective questions.

A central digital dashboard was used to monitor the entire process across districts. Authorities believe that these steps helped reduce errors and improved the credibility of the results.

Education experts have welcomed the use of technology in the Grade 8 assessment. They say such systems can help ensure merit-based evaluation and reduce chances of unfair practices.

Officials added that the assessment is part of broader reforms in the education sector. The aim is to standardize examinations and improve the overall quality of education in Punjab.
