The Punjab government has announced a new plan to provide relief to families in flood-hit areas. The initiative will focus on distributing ration cards quickly to ensure timely support for those in need. Officials have been directed to speed up the process and make relief a top priority.
According to sources, the Punjab Labor Department held a meeting to review several important matters. The agenda included ration card distribution, recovery of workers’ welfare funds, and the launch of a subsidy project for low-income families. Other topics discussed were filling vacant departmental positions and installing CCTV cameras in workers’ welfare school buses.
The Provincial Labor Minister instructed officials to accelerate the delivery of ration cards to flood-affected regions. He also ordered directors and field teams to play an active role in ensuring effective recovery of welfare funds.
The meeting further addressed a pilot project that will benefit 10,000 low-income families in Lahore. Each household will receive a monthly subsidy of Rs. 3,000. The minister stressed that this initiative should begin without delay to help families struggling with rising costs.
To improve safety, the department also decided to prepare working papers for the installation of CCTV cameras in school buses. At the same time, filling vacant posts in the Labor Department was marked as an urgent task to strengthen services.
The Punjab government stated that these steps are part of a wider vision for welfare and development. Relief measures, safety initiatives, and new subsidy programs reflect its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and improving public services.
By taking these actions, Punjab aims to provide immediate help to flood victims while building stronger systems for long-term social support.
