Punjab Starts Registration Process To Regulate Kite Flying Before Basant

Ahead of the Basant festival, the Punjab Home Department has initiated a formal registration process for kite and string manufacturers, sellers, and kite-flying associations. The move aims to ensure safe and organized kite flying activities across the province.

Detailed procedures have been prepared for kite and string makers, shopkeepers, and buyers. Similarly, registration mechanisms for kite-flying associations have been finalized to maintain proper oversight.

Form “A” has been declared mandatory for registration, and registered individuals will be issued an official certificate through Form “B.” Associations must complete Forms “C” and “D” for approval. These documents will help authorities monitor and regulate kite flying events effectively.

The Home Department stated that strict rules regarding the size, material, and quality of kites and strings will be enforced as per Schedule One. Production and sale of substandard or chemical-coated strings are completely banned to prevent accidents.

Registered associations will assist district administrations under the supervision of Deputy Commissioners to make proper arrangements for kite flying during Basant. Their responsibilities include organizing safe events and preventing any dangerous or prohibited activities.

Officials warned that violations of the regulations will result in cancellation of registration and legal action against the offenders. The department confirmed that the first phase of implementing the code of conduct for a safe and organized Basant has been successfully completed.

The registration system is designed to balance cultural traditions with public safety. Citizens are encouraged to follow the rules, participate in regulated events, and enjoy the festival safely.
