Punjab Schools May Get Extended Summer Holidays SoonPunjab Schools May Get Extended Summer Holidays Soon

The Punjab government has signaled major changes to the academic calendar, along with new relief measures for students and schools. Officials say summer vacations this year may last up to two months. At the same time, winter holidays are likely to be scheduled in January.

The new academic year has already started in government schools across Punjab. Authorities are focusing on steps to support students and reduce costs for institutions. These changes aim to make education more accessible and manageable.

One of the key initiatives is the large-scale distribution of free textbooks. The government plans to provide nearly 30 million books during the current academic year. This move is expected to help students continue their studies without financial stress.

Students in grades one to three will receive all textbooks free of cost. For grades four and five, most books will also be free. Middle school students, from grades six to nine, will get some of their books at no cost. Meanwhile, students in grade ten will receive complete sets of textbooks free.

To support students who may still face shortages, the government is introducing a book bank system. This system will ensure that all students can access the required learning materials. It is designed to fill any gaps in textbook availability.

In addition to student support, the government is also considering financial relief for schools. Officials are reviewing a proposal to reduce commercial electricity tariffs for government schools. This step could lower operating expenses for educational institutions.
