Punjab Government To Promote Punjabi Language In Schools Nationwide

The Punjab Government has announced a new initiative to promote Punjabi language, literature, and polite conversation in public schools across the province. The program encourages students to use respectful words like “Tusi” and “Assi” while avoiding informal or offensive language.

Officials stated that the initiative will also support the teaching and promotion of Saraiki and Pothohari languages in southern and northern regions of Punjab. School headteachers have been directed to organize activities in local languages and record videos of students speaking Punjabi or other regional languages.

All videos will be shared in official CEO groups, and school heads must submit reports to monitor implementation. This step ensures compliance and helps evaluate the effectiveness of the program.

The Punjab Government emphasized that the initiative is part of broader efforts to preserve regional languages and foster cultural awareness among students. It aims to strengthen students’ communication skills while promoting cultural identity and linguistic heritage.

Officials said the program will inspire students to value local languages and integrate them into their daily learning. By encouraging polite conversation, the initiative also promotes respectful communication in schools and social environments.

The initiative is expected to gradually expand, with more schools across the province adopting these measures. Teachers and administrators are encouraged to actively participate in the program and support students in learning local languages.
