The Punjab government has decided to introduce uniforms for the CCD (Counter Corruption Department) to improve discipline and transparency. This move aims to curb corruption and misuse of authority during field operations.
Previously, the CCD officers were exempt from wearing uniforms. However, several complaints about unauthorized behavior and corruption while working without identification prompted the government to reconsider this policy.
A special uniform design has been proposed for the CCD, featuring a sky-blue shirt paired with dark-blue trousers. The final design and colors will be approved by the provincial government before the uniforms are officially introduced.
Once approved, all CCD personnel must wear the prescribed uniform during operations. Officials believe this will help in proper identification and reduce incidents of abuse or impersonation.
In a related incident, the Faisalabad branch of the CCD’s Crime and Cyber Division arrested a man accused of sexually abusing minors. The suspect allegedly recorded obscene videos of the victims.
Police apprehended the suspect near Satyana Road in Faisalabad. Upon searching, officers recovered numerous obscene videos from the accused’s possession. The police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.
The Punjab government’s decision to introduce uniforms reflects its commitment to strengthening the CCD’s operational integrity. Clear identification is expected to enhance accountability during investigations and raids.
Officials say this step will build public trust in the department by minimizing complaints of misconduct. The uniform will make it easier for citizens to recognize genuine CCD officers and report any suspicious activity.
The move is part of wider reforms to improve law enforcement agencies across Punjab. By enforcing discipline and transparency, the government hopes to create a more effective and trustworthy CCD.
These changes will likely impact how the CCD carries out its duties and handles cases in the future.
