Punjab Government Implements Major Salary Hike for Select School Teachers

Punjab Fixes Rs. 20,000 Monthly Salary for PEF and PEIMA Teachers, Including During Summer Vacations

LAHORE – In a significant move to ensure financial stability for teachers, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) have announced a fixed monthly salary of Rs. 20,000 for teachers working in partner schools. This salary will also be applicable during summer vacations.

Previously, teachers employed in PEF and PEIMA partner schools received monthly payments ranging between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 8,000, and often faced salary suspensions during extended holiday periods. The latest directive issued by the School Education Department ensures uninterrupted monthly payments of Rs. 20,000, regardless of school closures.

According to officials, this policy change is aimed at safeguarding the financial well-being of over 30,000 teachers working in more than 10,000 partner schools across Punjab.

To ensure proper implementation, the PEF administration will continue monitoring and inspecting partner schools during the vacation period. Schools that fail to comply with the salary payment requirement may face strict action, including monetary penalties or cancellation of their partnership with the foundation.

Furthermore, all partner schools have been instructed to maintain digital records of salary transactions, allowing the authorities to verify compliance more efficiently.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting educators and enhancing the quality of education in Punjab’s public-private school system.
