Punjab’s Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq has announced that the province is fully equipped to manage cleanliness and sanitation during Eid-ul-Azha, with meticulous planning already in motion. Speaking to the public, he assured that the sanitation strategy will be transparent and strictly enforced.
As part of the “Suthra Punjab” campaign, a widespread deployment of machinery and workers is underway across both urban and rural areas. Rafiq noted that 180 free cattle markets have been established, with the Shahpur Kanjran Model Market standing out for its exceptional sanitation and security measures.

To support proper disposal of animal waste, around 12 million waste bags will be distributed through union councils, special camps, and a helpline (1139). Over the three Eid days, more than 380,000 tons of animal waste will be handled by approximately 180,000 sanitation workers using 36,000 vehicles and over 292,000 cleaning tools.
The minister also shared that 27,000 mosques and numerous graveyards will receive special cleaning, with 4,000 union council-level camps and primary waste collection points established across the province. Additionally, 1,684 collective sacrifice sites and 816 disposal points will be maintained, with rosewater and phenyl sprays used to curb odors.
These measures underline Punjab’s strong commitment to public hygiene and efficient waste management during one of the most sanitation-intensive times of the year.
