Punjab forms Council to Support Minority Community Welfare

Punjab has established a Minority Advisory Council to address challenges faced by minority communities and promote interfaith harmony.

Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, has been appointed as Chairman, with senior leader Kamran Bhatti as Vice Chairman and Aqib Alam as Convener.

Comprising 38 members, including Sikhs, Muslims, Hindus, and women, the council will serve a three-year term. However, the government reserves the right to dissolve it before completion if needed.

All members, including leadership, will work voluntarily. The Punjab Chief Minister has the authority to suspend or remove any member, including key officials, if necessary.

The council will advise the government on resolving minority issues, safeguarding their rights, and recommending development initiatives.

Ramesh Singh Arora reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Punjab’s minority communities.
