Flour supply in Punjab has been restored following a Government-Mills agreement aimed at stabilizing prices and ensuring adequate availability. The deal comes after weeks of shortages affecting households across the province.
According to sources, 800 flour mills across Punjab will reopen starting today. These mills will provide 10kg and 20kg flour bags at official rates. The reopening is expected to resolve supply disruptions and meet consumer demand.Officials confirmed that under the Government-Mills agreement, the provincial administration will supply 100,000 tons of wheat per month to the mills.
Additionally, multinational companies have pledged 2.5 million sacks of wheat at Rs 3,000 per maund. Company representatives are scheduled to meet with the DG Food to finalize distribution arrangements.
Special Assistant for Price Control, Salma Butt, praised the cooperation of flour mills in Punjab. She noted that recommendations to address the wheat and flour crisis are under review. Butt assured that the Government-Mills collaboration will ensure steady flour supply and stable prices across the province.
The agreement marks a major step toward ending the flour shortages that have caused concern among consumers. Authorities say the measures will guarantee both affordability and accessibility of this essential commodity.
