Punjab Chief Minister Approves Establishment of Thalassemia Centers Across the Province
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given in-principle approval for the creation of thalassemia centers in each division of the province. The announcement was made during a meeting with the Department of Health and Population Welfare.
At the outset of the meeting, Maryam Nawaz congratulated participants for the success of Operation Bunyan Marsoos (Solid Structure), describing it as a milestone that boosted national confidence and strengthened unity. She also credited her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, for his pivotal role in enhancing national security, particularly highlighting the nuclear tests he conducted, which, she said, made the country “unconquerable.”

As part of the session, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for high-quality blood supply for patients across Punjab, urging officials to draft a comprehensive plan to address this issue.
Additionally, thalassemia centers will be established in every division to support patients with this genetic blood disorder. The provincial government also decided to implement a central monitoring system for healthcare services, ensuring better coordination and management of resources.
Maryam Nawaz concluded the meeting by instructing health officials to expedite the revamping of hospitals, stressing the urgency of timely healthcare improvements across the province to ensure accessible and efficient medical services for all residents.
