Punjab achieves success in generating artificial rain using locally developed technology

Pakistan has successfully tested its locally developed artificial rain technology using the cloud seeding technique. The experiment was conducted in Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, and Gujar Khan, resulting in rainfall in Jhelum and Gujar Khan, as confirmed by the Meteorological Department.

The cloud seeding operation, initiated at 2 PM, led to rainfall a few hours later. Experts also indicated a strong possibility of rainfall in Lahore due to the technique’s effects.

Collaboration and Technology

The artificial rain experiment showcased collaboration between the Pakistan Army’s scientific research teams, SUPARCO, the Environmental Protection Agency, Army Aviation, and the Punjab government. The use of 100% indigenous technology marks a milestone in the country’s ability to manage environmental challenges.

Environmental Benefits

Experts highlighted the importance of this breakthrough in combating smog and mitigating environmental problems, particularly during the winter months when air quality deteriorates significantly.

Leadership Commendation

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised the success, stating:

“Today, with your hard work, dedication, and ability, Punjab has made history. The whole nation is proud of you.”

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb noted that while artificial rain was previously tested with UAE collaboration, this experiment relied entirely on local expertise:

“Alhamdulillah, there has been some good news in the form of rain… This time, 100% local skills and technology were used for the successful experiment.”

This achievement signifies a critical step forward in addressing climate-related challenges and underscores Pakistan’s commitment to leveraging local talent and technology for environmental sustainability.
