According to police, Dr. Mazari and Senator Falak Naz were arrested on May 10 and 12, respectively, by Secretariat police under 3MPO. Following their release from Adiala jail on Tuesday, both were arrested outside the jail by Tarnol police in connection with a case (FIR No. 272) registered with the police in connection with the PTI supporters’ attack on the Tarnol police station.

They said the case was filed on PPCs 324, 353, 440, 341, 109, 148, 149, 188, and 186 against 150 unidentified people and 31 nominated people, and that the names of the two PTI leaders were not mentioned in the FIR.

Following their arrests, both leaders were brought to Islamabad and detained at the Women Police Station for further legal action, they said, adding that the high court discharged both leaders and released them from police custody on Wednesday. Dr. Mazari, on the other hand, was detained for the third time in a week. Senator Naz could also be arrested.

Maleeka Bokhari, who was released from jail in the afternoon, was detained shortly after her release by Punjab police.

According to police officers, the PTI leader was arrested by Secretariat police on May 10 under 3MPO in connection with the law and order situation and violence on May 9.

Ali Mohammad Khan, who was transferred to a Jhelum jail on Tuesday, was also released on Wednesday, but was detained by police again. Mr Khan was arrested on May 11 under the 3MPO by Secretariat police in connection with violence on May 9, they added.

Meanwhile, according to police, about a dozen PTI leaders are still detained under the 3MPO and 16 MPO. They claimed that Secretariat, Shalimar, and Kohsar police arrested these leaders.

The police officers stated that if these leaders were granted bail, they would be arrested again in connection with the 26 FIRs registered by the Islamabad police in the aftermath of the May 9 riots.

The officers added that those PTI leaders who had gone into hiding would be apprehended soon because the police had increased surveillance to track down their hiding places.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
