Late-Night PTI Meeting Sparks Protest Warning and Resignations

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a strong political warning following a late-night core committee meeting in Islamabad. The party raised serious concerns about access to its founder, Imran Khan, and his health condition.

The meeting was held late at night and attended by senior party leaders. After the session, PTI released a formal statement outlining its decisions and concerns. The committee said it was deeply worried about the lack of transparency regarding Imran Khan’s health.

PTI demanded that clear and verified information be shared about the founder’s medical condition. The party also called for a medical examination by doctors from Shaukat Khanum Hospital. It stressed that the medical process must be transparent and credible.

The committee strongly criticized restrictions on meetings with Imran Khan. It said that his family members, lawyers, and political colleagues are being deliberately blocked. According to PTI, these actions are unacceptable and politically motivated.

The party warned that protests could be announced if the situation does not improve. These include shutter-down and wheel-jam protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other major cities. The core committee assigned responsibilities to members to organize possible protests on February 8.

PTI leadership directed Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Chairman Barrister Gohar to take legal steps. They were asked to ensure early hearings of court cases related to meetings with the founder. The committee also decided that the opposition leader would raise the issue in every parliamentary forum, including the National Assembly and the Senate.

Meanwhile, PTI faced internal changes after senior leader Omar Ayub Khan resigned from the party’s political committee. In a message shared on social media platform X, he apologized for being part of the committee. He cited legal cases and personal engagements as reasons for stepping down.

Omar Ayub stated that the political committee should only include party office-bearers. He added that he currently holds no party position and is not a member of parliament. He also suggested that opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai should be included in the committee.

Soon after, Shibli Faraz also resigned from the PTI political committee. The back-to-back resignations added pressure to the party’s internal structure.

At the same time, PTI announced new appointments. Zulfi Bukhari and Intezar Panjotha were inducted into the political committee. The party said the move aims to strengthen political coordination and international engagement.
