Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to challenge the £190 million verdict related to the Al-Qadir University Trust case in higher courts. Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan to 14 years in prison for corruption, while his wife, Bushra Bibi, received a 7-year sentence. The court also fined Imran Khan Rs 1 million and Bushra Bibi Rs 500,000, ordering the government to seize Al-Qadir University.
The case concerns alleged misuse of funds for Al-Qadir University, aimed at promoting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). PTI leaders condemned the ruling, calling it unjust. Opposition leader Omar Ayub criticized the decision and promised to appeal, questioning the lack of accountability for other politicians like PML-N’s Hassan Nawaz over his London property purchase.
