PTI Long March to Travel Through Charsadda, Mardan and Swabi
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced the next phase of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, with participants set to travel through several districts of the province over the coming days.
According to PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa General Secretary Ali Asghar Khan, Afridi will lead the next phase and remain with party workers and supporters during the journey.
March Schedule Announced
The participants will remain in Peshawar on October 8 before leaving for Charsadda on October 9. The marchers will stay overnight in Charsadda.
On October 10, the march will move from Charsadda to Mardan, where participants will spend the night. The caravan will then travel to Swabi on October 11 under Afridi’s leadership and stay there overnight.
The announced schedule is as follows:
- October 8: Peshawar — overnight stay
- October 9: Charsadda — overnight stay
- October 10: Mardan — overnight stay
- October 11: Swabi — overnight stay
Dispute With KP Governor
The announcement comes a day after Afridi criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi over meetings held with senior provincial officials.
During a provincial cabinet meeting, Afridi described the governor’s meetings as unconstitutional and said the provincial government, assembly and cabinet were fully functional.
Afridi maintained that the governor did not have constitutional authority to convene such meetings or issue directives on matters falling under the provincial government’s authority.
He said the provincial government would seek the Advocate General’s opinion on the constitutional status of the meetings.
Afridi also said his government would oppose what he described as attempts to undermine the provincial government and democracy.
The PTI march is now scheduled to continue through key districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before the next phase of the party’s political campaign.
