Senior PTI leaders on Thursday strongly rejected claims that the party supports terrorism. They reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating militancy in Pakistan.
At a press conference, Barrister Gohar said terrorism remains a major national issue. He emphasized that PTI leaders have consistently condemned terrorism and demanded full implementation of the National Action Plan. Gohar warned that political accusations against PTI only create divisions and called such rhetoric a “deadly poison” for national unity.
Gohar highlighted the role of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in counterterrorism. He revealed that the provincial government spent Rs40 billion to strengthen security. He also said KP ranks high in governance and transparency, reflecting the province’s commitment to development and good administration.
Senior PTI leader Salman Akram Raja strongly rejected claims against the party’s founder. He called the allegations unjust and said PTI has always promoted peace, dialogue, and protection of citizens. Raja stressed that meaningful negotiations cannot take place while major political leaders remain imprisoned. He also said that issues like border security and illegal weapons require a collective national approach.
The PTI leaders called for a long-term national policy spanning five to ten years. They said poverty, unemployment, and lack of development in tribal areas contribute to extremism. Raja emphasized that military operations alone cannot achieve peace and that social and economic reforms are essential.
