National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has scheduled a meeting of the negotiation committees with PTI for January 28, 2025. However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has categorically declined to participate, citing dissatisfaction with the government’s response to their demands. The in-camera meeting is set to take place at 11:45 am in committee room five of the Parliament House.

Barrister Gohar, PTI Chairman, stated that the party has decided to boycott all future meetings despite initially favoring dialogue. He emphasized that PTI founder Imran Khan had always been open to negotiations but noted that the government has failed to address their concerns. He added that PTI had submitted written demands upon the government’s request and would reconsider their stance if a commission is announced.

Opposition Leader Omar Ayub expressed frustration, stating, “We gave them a chance, but they did nothing. Let them continue without us; we won’t join.” He criticized the government for its inaction and reiterated PTI’s unwillingness to engage until concrete steps, such as forming a commission, are taken.

Barrister Gohar further emphasized that PTI founder Imran Khan has suspended negotiations, demanding the government announce the formation of a commission to restart talks. He questioned the government’s hesitation, asking, “What is stopping them now?” This stance reflects PTI’s growing impatience with the lack of progress.

This will mark the fourth meeting of the negotiation committees, but the outlook remains bleak. A day prior, Imran Khan publicly terminated negotiations with the government, citing their failure to act within the seven-day ultimatum he had issued. Speaking outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar shared that Khan had warned of this outcome if a commission was not announced.
