Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sharply condemned Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman over his recent remarks about PTI founder Imran Khan, labeling them as “malicious and politically motivated.”
In an official statement, PTI accused Hafiz Naeem of trying to please the establishment through his comments about the detained leader’s integrity and character. The party said his statements reflect “political bitterness and intellectual slavery,” suggesting that Naeem’s remarks were meant to undermine Khan’s reputation rather than contribute to constructive political debate.
PTI also reminded Hafiz Naeem of the party’s previous support for Jamaat-e-Islami’s pro-Palestine rally held earlier this year. A party spokesperson reiterated PTI’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, noting that Imran Khan has always taken a clear and courageous stance against Israel and its supporters. “PTI’s position on Palestine reflects Imran Khan’s long-standing principles and moral clarity,” the spokesperson asserted.
The spokesperson also questioned Hafiz Naeem’s silence on other pressing issues, particularly the case of Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, who is reportedly in Israeli custody. PTI further asked why Hafiz Naeem has not raised his voice against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s silence on such matters.
Criticizing the JI leader’s selective comments, PTI said the public is aware of when and under whose direction “remote-controlled politicians” speak. The statement added that Hafiz Naeem appears more focused on maintaining ties with powerful institutions rather than standing up for truth and justice.
Concluding the statement, PTI urged Hafiz Naeem to refrain from attacking Imran Khan and instead focus on his own political responsibilities. “He may continue to serve his masters,” PTI stated, “but he has no right to malign Imran Khan, a leader who has always stood for national dignity and independence.”
