PTI Senator Shibli Faraz claimed on Monday that the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICT) surrounded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretariat in Islamabad and arrested PTI chairman Barrister Gohar along with party spokesperson Rauf Hasan. Faraz reported that a large police contingent, including female officers, arrived at the PTI secretariat.
However, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar clarified in an interview with SAMAA TV that he was not arrested and that only Rauf Hasan had been taken into custody. Gohar stated that he was briefly detained by the police but was later dropped off at his residence and informed that he was not wanted in any FIR or investigation. Law enforcement agencies have taken action against individuals involved in alleged disinformation, including PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan. Sources indicated that the PTI digital media center has been a central point of disinformation, leading to the raid based on information from PTI’s international social media activists.

Earlier, on May 24, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed the PTI Central Secretariat located in Sector G-84 due to violations of building regulations and encroachment issues. The CDA operation, conducted in collaboration with the district administration, involved anti-encroachment teams using heavy machinery. On June 4, the Islamabad High Court ordered the immediate de-sealing of PTI’s central office. The court’s decision came after accepting PTI’s plea against the CDA’s actions. Prior to this, on June 3, the Islamabad High Court had reserved its decision on PTI’s petition challenging the sealing of their central secretariat.
