The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned that all unregistered mobile phones will soon be blocked from local networks. Users have been advised to register their devices via the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) to ensure uninterrupted service.
PTA stated that unregistered devices can threaten national security and may be exploited for financial crimes or cyber fraud. It emphasized that the use, sale, or possession of such phones is illegal and punishable under current laws.
The authority also urged people not to purchase or sell unregistered phones, explaining that these devices are not recognized in the official system and cannot be used lawfully. Continued usage of such handsets could lead to service suspension and possible legal action.
PTA further advised citizens to promptly verify their device status on the DIRBS portal and complete registration to avoid disruption.
