PTA and FIA Crack Down on Illegal Sale of Foreign SIM Cards Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing have launched a nationwide operation targeting individuals and businesses involved in the illegal sale of pre-activated foreign SIM cards. This joint effort is part of ongoing measures to combat telecom fraud and enhance national security.

Raids were conducted in various cities, including Abbottabad, Skardu, Peshawar, Lahore, and Sialkot. Authorities arrested several suspects and seized a significant number of illegally activated SIM cards reportedly used for fraudulent activities and unverified communications.

PTA and FIA officials stressed that the sale of unauthorized SIMs poses a serious threat to public safety, as it enables anonymous and untraceable communications. They reaffirmed their commitment to preventing such illegal activities and warned that strict action would continue against offenders violating telecom regulations.
