PSL to Hold Auction for Adding Two New Teams

Pakistan Super League (PSL) CEO Salman Naseer has confirmed that an auction will soon be held to introduce two additional franchises into the league.

During a press conference in Karachi, Naseer recalled that when the PSL was launched, fan engagement was relatively low, yet five investors placed their confidence in the tournament and acquired teams. Over the years, despite criticism and attempts to undermine its success, the PSL continued to expand and strengthen its reputation.

He explained that with all franchise agreements now concluding after ten seasons, the board decided it was the right moment to reassess the league’s structure and move forward with expansion.

Naseer revealed that potential franchise owners will be provided with a list of cities, from which they can select a home base for their new teams.

He also announced that HBL will remain the league’s title sponsor for another two years. The renewed sponsorship deal, he emphasized, is based on an independent valuation and represents an impressive 505% increase from the previous agreement—showing the league’s strong commercial growth.
