PSL Reveals Schedule for Auctioning Two New Teams

The Pakistan Super League announced on Friday that the auction for its two upcoming franchise teams will be held on January 6, 2026.
This development marks another major step in the league’s ongoing expansion and its aim to broaden its presence across the country.

The inclusion of two new teams is expected to boost commercial value, enhance competition, and offer greater engagement for fans. The shortlisted cities under consideration for franchise rights include Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.

Successful bidders at the auction will be allowed to select from these city names, with only technically qualified applicants eligible to participate.

Recognised globally as a leading T20 league, the PSL continues to grow in popularity, financial strength, and overall influence. The PCB and PSL management say they look forward to introducing new partners to the HBL PSL setup and further strengthening its contribution to Pakistan cricket.

This announcement comes a day after the PCB rejected media reports claiming that the new franchises’ city names had already been finalised.
