Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Super League, Salman Naseer, has confirmed key details about PSL 11. He shared updates about the opening match, venue plans, and possible overseas fixtures.
According to Naseer, defending champions Lahore Qalandars will play the first match of PSL 11. They will face new franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen. The match will take place in Lahore. An opening ceremony will be held before the game.
Most matches in the first phase of PSL 11 will also be played in Lahore. The full schedule is expected to be released later this week. Officials say more details about venues and match dates will be shared soon.
There have been discussions about holding the PSL 11 final outside Pakistan. The idea is to give overseas fans a chance to watch the league live. Many overseas Pakistanis have shown strong interest in hosting matches abroad.
Salman Naseer said the proposal is under review. He added that the management wants to expand the league globally. However, he did not confirm if an overseas match will happen this season. A final decision is likely by the end of the week.
The CEO also spoke about hosting matches in Peshawar. The league’s team visited the local stadium to review its condition. Officials found some issues with the ground and facilities. Because of these concerns, the National T20 Cup was moved from the venue.
Despite the challenges, the league aims to bring PSL matches to Peshawar in the future. Management says improvements are needed before any final approval.
PSL 11 will run from March 26 to May 3. This season will feature eight teams. Two new franchises have been added as part of the league’s expansion plan.
