Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the cabinet on Tuesday, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to its nuclear program, emphasizing that it is solely for defensive purposes and would never be used aggressively. He reiterated that any hostile action against Pakistan would be met with a defensive response, and the nuclear program belongs to the people of Pakistan, with no compromise on its security.
Sharif also shared an update on the ongoing negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), revealing that the first session had taken place, and the next round of talks is scheduled for January 2. He stressed the importance of prioritizing national interest over personal interests in these discussions.

Addressing the recent uptick in terrorism, Prime Minister Sharif expressed condolences for the 17 martyrs who lost their lives in a recent attack by the Kharijites. He also praised Pakistan’s security forces for neutralizing eight terrorists in response. Sharif emphasized that Pakistan’s prosperity would remain elusive until terrorism was fully eradicated and vowed to continue efforts to combat it with provincial authorities.
The Prime Minister also condemned the sectarian violence in Parachinar, expressing sadness over the tragic loss of life and criticizing the diversion of resources that should have been focused on local issues. He assured that Pakistan would remain resolute in its fight against terrorism, with the goal of restoring peace and security across the country.
