Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Bangladesh High Commission on Monday to express condolences on the passing of Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
During the visit, the prime minister met the Charge d’Affaires and conveyed Pakistan’s sympathies for the departed leader. He also recorded a message in the condolence book, expressing grief over the loss of a prominent and visionary political figure.
Speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt condolences to Khaleda Zia’s family. He prayed for her highest place in Jannah and highlighted her significant contributions to Bangladesh’s political development.
The prime minister emphasized Khaleda Zia’s dedication to public service and her unwavering commitment to the people of Bangladesh. He noted that her leadership and political legacy will leave a lasting impact on the nation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi during the visit. Officials described the gesture as a reflection of Pakistan’s respect for the late leader and the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
The condolence visit also reinforced the importance of continued diplomatic and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Khaleda Zia’s passing marks the end of an era in Bangladeshi politics, and her efforts for national development and democratic governance were widely acknowledged.
