President Asif Ali Zardari met with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain to strengthen bilateral relations and promote investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The meeting was held at Qasr Al-Qudaibiya in Manama, where President Zardari received a guard of honour. In recognition of his efforts to improve ties between the two countries, he was awarded Bahrain’s highest honour, the Wisam Al-Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, First Class.
During the discussions, both leaders emphasized enhancing cooperation in trade and investment. They also discussed joint projects in agriculture, IT, healthcare, tourism, and infrastructure. President Zardari invited Bahraini investors to explore business opportunities in Pakistan.
The president thanked Bahrain for providing support to over 116,000 Pakistanis living in the country. He highlighted the role of the Pakistani community in strengthening friendship between the two nations.
Regional and global matters were also discussed during the meeting. Both leaders stressed the importance of unity and close coordination at international forums, including the United Nations.
Following the formal discussions, a luncheon was hosted in honour of President Zardari and his delegation. Officials from both sides expressed optimism about expanding Pakistan-Bahrain cooperation and exploring mutually beneficial projects.
The meeting demonstrates Pakistan’s efforts to attract foreign investment while maintaining strong diplomatic relations in the Gulf region. President Zardari emphasized that collaboration with Bahrain could help boost economic growth, trade, and regional stability.
The discussions also highlighted Pakistan’s potential in various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, and technology. Both leaders agreed to continue high-level engagements to foster investment, business opportunities, and cultural exchange between the two countries.
