PPP Announces Protest Movement Against Controversial Indus Canal Project
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has launched a protest movement against the controversial six canals project on the Indus River, calling it an illegal and unconstitutional initiative.
PPP to Stage Province-Wide Protests on March 25
Senior PPP leader Nisar Khuhro announced that protests will be held across all district headquarters in Sindh on March 25 to oppose the project. Addressing the media, Khuhro accused the Punjab government of secretly allocating funds for the canals despite claims that no such projects were in development.

He reaffirmed PPP’s commitment to challenging the project on all constitutional platforms, including legislative forums and street demonstrations.
PPP Opposes Cholistan Canal, Cites Sindh’s Water Rights
Khuhro specifically criticized the Cholistan Canal, warning that it poses a serious threat to Sindh’s water rights. He urged mass public participation in the protests, emphasizing that the PPP will take the movement to every street and district.
PPP Slams Political Rivals Over Silence on Water Issue
Taking aim at political opponents, Khuhro accused rival parties of ignoring threats to Sindh’s water resources while continuing to criticize the PPP. He vowed that the party would use every available legal and political means to halt the canal construction.

As tensions rise over Sindh’s water rights, the PPP’s protest movement is expected to intensify in the coming days, with large-scale demonstrations planned across the province.
