PPL Reports Significant Increase in Natural Gas, Oil, and LPG Production

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Announces Significant Increase in Hydrocarbon Production

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX: PPL), has reported a substantial increase in its hydrocarbon production as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s energy security. The company has implemented a range of cost-efficient production enhancement initiatives that have led to significant gains in production while maintaining low operational costs.

From April to November 2024, PPL’s efforts have resulted in notable production increases, including:

  • 17 MMscfd of natural gas
  • 400 barrels per day of oil/condensate
  • 4 tonnes per day of LPG

These gains are the result of strategic interventions such as rigless operations, surface system optimization, and workovers, which have helped to address the natural decline in the company’s mature fields without the high costs associated with drilling new wells.

Key Production Milestones

  1. Workover Optimization:
    • Successful workovers on the Sui-71 and Sui-73 fields boosted gas output by 8.4 MMscfd.
  2. Surface Debottlenecking:
    • Optimization of wellhead surface fittings and processing systems in the Sui and Gambat South Gas Fields resulted in an increase of 7.1 MMscfd gas production.
  3. Artificial Lift System Enhancements:
    • Installation and modifications at Adhi-28, Adhi-29, and Adhi South-5 fields led to an additional 200 barrels per day of oil/condensate, 2 tonnes per day of LPG, and 0.5 MMscfd of gas.
  4. Acid Wash and Wellbore Cleanout:
    • Acid wash treatments and scale removal at the Adhi, Hala, and Sui Fields contributed an additional 200 barrels per day of oil/condensate, 2 tonnes per day of LPG, and 1.3 MMscfd of gas.

These initiatives highlight PPL’s commitment to enhancing domestic hydrocarbon production in a cost-effective manner. By increasing local production, the company plays a crucial role in reducing the energy supply gap in Pakistan and conserving foreign exchange reserves.

In conclusion, PPL’s efforts are reinforcing its position as a key player in Pakistan’s energy sector while contributing to national energy security.
