In a significant move to enhance tourism and regional connectivity, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has reopened the Babusar Top highway nearly two months ahead of schedule, following orders from Federal Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan.

Previously accessible in July, the picturesque mountain route is now open in May, offering smoother travel to Gilgit-Baltistan and key tourist hubs like Kaghan Valley and Naran.

According to the NHA, early clearance of heavy glaciers and natural obstacles allowed for the accelerated reopening. This effort reflects the government’s commitment to improving northern Pakistan’s infrastructure and accessibility.

The early opening is expected to reduce travel time to Gilgit-Baltistan by up to five hours, easing the journey for both tourists and locals. It also aligns with the recent restoration of the Kaghan-Naran Highway, further strengthening regional connectivity.

The NHA has urged tourists to take advantage of the upgraded route, assuring continued maintenance and safety checks during peak season.
