A group of 12 to 14 terrorists launched an attack on the Quboolkhel checkpost of the Esakhel police in Mianwali district. The heavily armed assailants, equipped with rocket launchers and hand grenades, targeted the checkpost in the early hours, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire.
The police personnel at the checkpost responded swiftly and effectively, successfully repelling the attack. According to a spokesman for Mianwali District Police Officer Akhtar Farooq, the terrorists fled as the police force countered their assault.

The Esakhel DSP and SHO were present at the checkpost along with a heavy contingent of officers. Two policemen sustained minor injuries during the attack. In response, a large-scale search operation was launched in the area to locate and apprehend the fleeing terrorists. Authorities believe the terrorists may have suffered significant casualties during the firefight.
Punjab IGP Dr. Usman Anwar praised the bravery and quick response of the police officers at the Quboolkhel checkpost, commending their efforts in thwarting the terrorist attack. He highlighted that this marks the ninth such assault on the Punjab police in recent months and referred to the Punjab police as an “iron wall” against terrorists at the border checkposts.
Three Killed in Accident
In a separate incident, a tragic accident occurred on the CPEC road when a car collided with a trailer, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire. Despite the swift response of rescue teams, all three occupants of the car were declared dead at the scene.
The victims were traveling to Dera Ismail Khan when the accident took place. Their bodies were subsequently transferred to the THQ hospital, where they await identification. Rescue officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident and are taking measures to ensure the safety of the area.
